Align, a litigation technology company built by a trial lawyer Sam Davidoff, today (3 August) announces the general availability of Align Research, an AI case retrieval tool that it says eliminates research hours clients increasingly refuse to pay for and replaces them with a per-task cost that can be defensibly billed back to any matter. While Davidoff posted about the launch on LinkedIn in July, his press team say today is GA and the pricing going public.

Align Research retrieves rather than generates: it returns court opinions with the relevant passages marked, writes nothing of its own, eliminating opportunity for hallucination. Align Research is available now and free to start. Try it at Align Research.

Lawyers are caught between multiple pressures in the era of AI, including an array of client demands to provide more legal services at a lower cost and in less time, the refusal to pay for associate hours, and, more recently, a refusal to pay for basic case-law searches.

Sam Davidoff, CEO of Align Research, comments: “Align Research drives a new era of modern, accessible AI-powered workflows for litigation teams. Align Research works like a good junior-level associate. Lawyers can give it a research question and then go do other client work while it starts finding and reading cases. The final set of relevant cases arrive a few hours later with the key passages marked, every one of them real. It can’t hallucinate, because it isn’t telling you anything. It’s just showing the relevant cases. And it leaves the legal analysis and judgment where it should be – with the attorney.

If you use it, let us know what you think.
