Does Align use AI?

Align does not rely on AI for any of its functionality. We believe the problems we are solving with Align aren't problems that make sense for AI. AI will not help you convert your paper binders into digital equivalents. AI can't give you highlights and sticky notes that you can instantly find in court. AI doesn't help you seamlessly sync binders across your and your team’s laptops and iPads. Those are tasks that need a digital tool built by litigators who understand the mechanics of litigation. That's Align.

Why is Align better than Acrobat, PDF Expert, and other PDF readers?

The problem with other PDF tools is they don't give you binders. They offer various functionalities, but all that functionality requires you to first agree to a prerequisite —stop organizing your documents into binders, and instead use folders, portfolios, or some other scheme. We believe that's a step backwards. Binders aren't just 'one way' of litigating — they are a fundamental component of how litigators think about and organize their cases. Any tool that asks you to give up your binders is asking you to stop being as good a litigator as you can be.

Does Align require internet access?

Align uses internet access to sync binders across your team and across your devices. But we also know that internet isn't always reliable, especially on planes, trains, and in older courthouses. Align is built to handle that. You tell it the binders you need for a trip, day in court, etc., and when the internet goes down, Align keeps working. Everything is there on your iPad, ready to sync back up when the connection comes back on.

Does Align integrate with my DMS?

Align's binders are always available for export for archiving to a DMS or other file storage platform. While you are working on them, however, they stay inside the Align platform. This is necessary to allow you to have the amazing features you've come to expect from Align, including: multiple sets of annotations, instant access to 'clean' copies, offline mode, and more.

Do I need an iPad to use Align?

Not at all. Align will work on any device with a browser. The experience of Align's dedicated iPad app, however, is magical. The combination of Align's powerful organization and annotation tools with the iPad’s slim form factor and Apple Pencil gives you the closest experience to physical binders we've found. And that's our goal at Align — giving you the same binders you already use, just in enhanced digital form

Does Align support MDM iPad management?

Enterprise deployments of Align support MDM management using Intune/Company Portal, BlackBerry UEM, or Citrix Endpoint Management.
